When it comes to the pantheon of great NYC food neighborhoods, Brooklyn Heights is an outsider. At best, it’s loitering outside of the pantheon, in a back alley, with Times Square and most of the financial district. It’s gotten so bad that the neighborhood has recently become the subject of some high-profile ridicule. This hurts because it’s where I live.

In the last few months, however, there have been a couple choice restaurant openings in Brooklyn Heights: an upscale neighborhood tavern called Inga’s Bar and a bakery, L’Appartement 4F, which people across the city have absolutely lost their shit over. Both have injected the tiniest bit of life into the area; and, as a resident of “Brooklyn’s sleepiest neighborhood,” I am obliged to explore their offerings. [more]
